Be the best friends, lovers, partners and spiritual companions you can be
Being in relationship shouldn't be so hard, yet sometimes it is.
Maybe you really love your partner but despite all your best intentions you keep hurting and disappointing each other. You want to connect but don't know how. You get caught in stupid arguments that you know aren't the real issue but can't get past them.
Or perhaps you get along well and enjoy doing life together, but you have this nagging sense that there could be more. Being buddies isn't enough to turn you on, in life or in the bedroom...
It happens so often that the relationships that matter most are the ones that are the ones that bring up the deepest longing, pain and fear. These are also the relationships that offer a chance for the greatest healing and growth.
Unfortunately nobody gives us a user manual on love or how to have amazing, fulfilling relationships.
The good news is that you don't have to keep struggling with this alone.
In fact, there IS a manual on how to connect deeply with others, you just need to learn what actually works. Even better, you have the capacity to open to greater love while staying safe and secure within yourself
The full spectrum of relationship
Many books and couple's counseling methods focus on one aspect of a couple's problem. I say, why not have it all?? Why not invite all the flavors and textures of love into your relationship?
Most couples have arenas of life where it's easy for them to connect, and others where things get messy or stuck. Perhaps you're great at throwing parties and doing projects projects together, but don't know how to handle each others' vulnerability and emotional needs? Maybe you're the best of friends but your sex life is pretty lukewarm.
I work with the 7 Flavors of Love model to help strengthen and refine what you're already great at, and show you how to connect in ways that will bring nourishment and satisfaction to areas that have been frustrating.
Areas we attend to
Secure attachment and co-regulation - Feeling safe, cozy and comfortably bonded with each other
Individuation - Being fully yourself while staying connected
Sexual aliveness and presence - How to be in your body and increase capacity for pleasure
Sensuality and intimacy - Sex and physical contact as a conduit for connection, intimacy and love
Healthy boundaries - cultivate respect and truth-telling without being destructive
Empowerment and authentic support - being on the same team
Acceptance and true friendship - bring the heart of compassion and love into the center of your relationship
Communication skills - listening and being heard in ways that actually work
Genuine empathy - learn how to handle emotional waves and vulnerability with grace
Having a shared vision - Know where you're going and share your dreams
Soul-level connection - Get past the drama to the essence of who you are and what you mean to each other
Spiritual practice - using your relationship as ground for spiritual growth
I work with couples in person in San Rafael, California or online. Couples work is usually focused on romantic partners, but can be very helpful for other kinds of partnership, such as business partners, friendships or family connections that would like extra support and insight.
I recommend a commitment to at least 6 sessions to get some real results, but I am flexible and can adapt to your unique needs.
